  • Genesis 2:20-24 — The man gave names to all the cattle, and to the birds of the sky, and to every beast of the field, but for (Or {man}) Adam there was not found a helper suitable for him.
    So the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and he slept; then He took one of his ribs and closed up the flesh at that place.
    The LORD God (Lit {built}) fashioned into a woman the rib which He had taken from the man, and brought her to the man.
    The man said, "This is now bone of my bones, And flesh of my flesh; She shall be called Woman, Because she was taken out of Man."
    For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh.
  • Proverbs 31:10-14 — An excellent wife, who can find? For her worth is far above jewels.
    The heart of her husband trusts in her, And he will have no lack of gain.
    She does him good and not evil All the days of her life.
    She looks for wool and flax And works with her hands in delight.
    She is like merchant ships; She brings her food from afar.
  • Proverbs 31:15-19 — She rises also while it is still night And gives food to her household And portions to her maidens.
    She considers a field and buys it; From her earnings she plants a vineyard.
    She girds herself with strength And makes her arms strong.
    She senses that her gain is good; Her lamp does not go out at night.
    She stretches out her hands to the distaff, And her hands grasp the spindle.
  • Proverbs 31:20-24 — She extends her hand to the poor, And she stretches out her hands to the needy.
    She is not afraid of the snow for her household, For all her household are clothed with scarlet.
    She makes coverings for herself; Her clothing is fine linen and purple.
    Her husband is known in the gates, When he sits among the elders of the land.
    She makes linen garments and sells {them,} And supplies belts to the tradesmen.
  • Proverbs 31:25-29 — Strength and dignity are her clothing, And she smiles at the future.
    She opens her mouth in wisdom, And the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.
    She looks well to the ways of her household, And does not eat the bread of idleness.
    Her children rise up and bless her; Her husband {also,} and he praises her, {saying:}
    "Many daughters have done nobly, But you excel them all."
  • Proverbs 31:30-31 — Charm is deceitful and beauty is vain, {But} a woman who fears the LORD, she shall be praised.
    Give her the product of her hands, And let her works praise her in the gates.
  • Romans 16:2 — that you receive her in the Lord in a manner worthy of the saints, and that you help her in whatever matter she may have need of you; for she herself has also been a helper of many, and of myself as well.
  • 1 Corinthians 11:3 — But I want you to understand that Christ is the head of every man, and the man is the head of a woman, and God is the head of Christ.
  • 1 Corinthians 14:34-35 — The women are to keep silent in the churches; for they are not permitted to speak, but are to subject themselves, just as the Law also says.
    If they desire to learn anything, let them ask their own husbands at home; for it is improper for a woman to speak in church.
  • Philippians 4:3 — Indeed, true companion, I ask you also to help these women who have shared my struggle in {the cause of} the gospel, together with Clement also and the rest of my fellow workers, whose names are in the book of life.
  • 1 Timothy 2:9-13 — Likewise, {I want} women to adorn themselves with proper clothing, modestly and discreetly, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly garments,
    but rather by means of good works, as is proper for women making a claim to godliness.
    A woman must quietly receive instruction with entire submissiveness.
    But I do not allow a woman to teach or exercise authority over a man, but to remain quiet.
    For it was Adam who was first created, {and} then Eve.
  • 1 Timothy 2:14-15 — And {it was} not Adam {who} was deceived, but the woman being deceived, fell into transgression.
    But {women} will be preserved through the bearing of children if they continue in faith and love and sanctity with self-restraint.
  • 1 Timothy 3:11 — Women {must} likewise {be} dignified, not malicious gossips, but temperate, faithful in all things.
  • 1 Timothy 5:3-7 — Honor widows who are widows indeed;
    but if any widow has children or grandchildren, they must first learn to practice piety in regard to their own family and to make some return to their parents; for this is acceptable in the sight of God.
    Now she who is a widow indeed and who has been left alone, has fixed her hope on God and continues in entreaties and prayers night and day.
    But she who gives herself to wanton pleasure is dead even while she lives.
    Prescribe these things as well, so that they may be above reproach.
  • 1 Timothy 5:8-12 — But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.
    A widow is to be put on the list only if she is not less than sixty years old, {having been} the wife of one man,
    having a reputation for good works; {and} if she has brought up children, if she has shown hospitality to strangers, if she has washed the saints' feet, if she has assisted those in distress, {and} if she has devoted herself to every good work.
    But refuse {to put} younger widows {on the list,} for when they feel sensual desires in disregard of Christ, they want to get married,
    {thus} incurring condemnation, because they have set aside their previous pledge.
  • 1 Timothy 5:13-16 — At the same time they also learn {to be} idle, as they go around from house to house; and not merely idle, but also gossips and busybodies, talking about things not proper {to mention.}
    Therefore, I want younger {widows} to get married, bear children, keep house, {and} give the enemy no occasion for reproach;
    for some have already turned aside to follow Satan.
    If any woman who is a believer has {dependent} widows, she must assist them and the church must not be burdened, so that it may assist those who are widows indeed.
  • Titus 2:3-5 — Older women likewise are to be reverent in their behavior, not malicious gossips nor enslaved to much wine, teaching what is good,
    so that they may encourage the young women to love their husbands, to love their children,
    {to be} sensible, pure, workers at home, kind, being subject to their own husbands, so that the word of God will not be dishonored.
  • 1 Peter 3:1-4 — In the same way, you wives, be submissive to your own husbands so that even if any {of them} are disobedient to the word, they may be won without a word by the behavior of their wives,
    as they observe your chaste and respectful behavior.
    Your adornment must not be {merely} external--braiding the hair, and wearing gold jewelry, or putting on dresses;
    but {let it be} the hidden person of the heart, with the imperishable quality of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is precious in the sight of God.
  • 1 Peter 3:5-6 — For in this way in former times the holy women also, who hoped in God, used to adorn themselves, being submissive to their own husbands;
    just as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord, and you have become her children if you do what is right without being frightened by any fear.
