  • 1 Timothy 3:7-10 — And he must have a good reputation with those outside {the church,} so that he will not fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.
    Deacons likewise {must be} men of dignity, not double-tongued, or addicted to much wine or fond of sordid gain,
    {but} holding to the mystery of the faith with a clear conscience.
    These men must also first be tested; then let them serve as deacons if they are beyond reproach.
  • 2 Timothy 4:17 — But the Lord stood with me and strengthened me, so that through me the proclamation might be fully accomplished, and that all the Gentiles might hear; and I was rescued out of the lion's mouth.
  • Titus 2:1-2 — But as for you, speak the things which are fitting for sound doctrine.
    Older men are to be temperate, dignified, sensible, sound in faith, in love, in perseverance.

  • 1 Peter 5:2-4 — shepherd the flock of God among you, exercising oversight not under compulsion, but voluntarily, according to {the will of} God; and not for sordid gain, but with eagerness;
    nor yet as lording it over those allotted to your charge, but proving to be examples to the flock.
    And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the unfading crown of glory.
