  • Genesis 1:2 — The earth was (Or {a waste and emptiness}) formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was (Or {hovering}) moving over the surface of the waters.
  • Judges 14:6 — The Spirit of the LORD came upon him mightily, so that he tore him as one tears a young goat though he had nothing in his hand; but he did not tell his father or mother what he had done.

  • Mark 13:11~"When they arrest you and hand you over, do not worry beforehand about what you are to say, but say whatever is given you in that hour; for it is not you who speak, but {it is} the Holy Spirit.
  • Luke 1:35 — The angel answered and said to her, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; and for that reason the holy Child shall be called the Son of God.

  • John 1:32-33 — John testified saying, "I have seen the Spirit descending as a dove out of heaven, and He remained upon Him.
    ~"I did not recognize Him, but He who sent me to baptize (The Gr here can be translated {in}, {with} or {by}) in water said to me, `He upon whom you see the Spirit descending and remaining upon Him, this is the One who baptizes in the Holy Spirit.'
  • John 14:17{that is} the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him, {but} you know Him because He abides with you and will be in you.
  • John 14:26~"But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you.
  • John 15:26"When the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, {that is} the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify about Me,
  • John 16:7-11~"But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him to you.
    ~"And He, when He comes, will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment;

    and concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father and you no longer see Me;
    and concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world has been judged.
  • John 16:12-14"I have many more things to say to you, but you cannot bear {them} now.
    ~"But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come.
    ~"He will glorify Me, for He will take of Mine and will disclose {it} to you.
  • John 20:22-23 — And when He had said this, He breathed on them and *said to them, "Receive the Holy Spirit.
    ~"If you forgive the sins of any, {their sins} have been forgiven them; if you retain the {sins} of any, they have been retained."
  • Acts 1:8but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth."

  • Acts 4:8 — Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, "Rulers and elders of the people,
  • Acts 4:31 — And when they had prayed, the place where they had gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and {began} to speak the word of God with boldness.
  • Acts 5:32 — ~"And we are witnesses (One early ms adds {in Him}) of these things; and {so is} the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey Him."
  • Acts 6:5 — The statement found approval with the whole congregation; and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit, and Philip, Prochorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas and Nicolas, a (I.e. a Gentile convert to Judaism) proselyte from Antioch.

  • Acts 8:19-20 — saying, "Give this authority to me as well, so that everyone on whom I lay my hands may receive the Holy Spirit."
    But Peter said to him, "May your silver perish with you, because you thought you could obtain the gift of God with money!
  • Acts 9:31 — So the church throughout all Judea and Galilee and Samaria enjoyed peace, being built up; and going on in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, it continued to increase.
  • Acts 10:44-46 — While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who were listening to the message.
    All the circumcised believers who came with Peter were amazed, because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles also.
    For they were hearing them speaking with tongues and exalting God. Then Peter answered,
  • Acts 11:16-17 — ~"And I remembered the word of the Lord, how He used to say, `John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.'
    ~"Therefore if God gave to them the same gift as {He gave} to us also after believing in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I that I could stand in God's way?"
  • Acts 13:2-4 — While they were ministering to the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, "Set apart for Me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them."
    Then, when they had fasted and prayed and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.
    So, being sent out by the Holy Spirit, they went down to Seleucia and from there they sailed to Cyprus.
  • Acts 16:6 — They passed through the Phrygian and Galatian region, having been forbidden by the Holy Spirit to speak the word in Asia;
  • Acts 18:5 — But when Silas and Timothy came down from Macedonia, Paul {began} devoting himself completely to the word, solemnly testifying to the Jews that Jesus was the Christ.
  • Acts 19:2-6 — He said to them, "Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?" And they {said} to him, "No, we have not even heard whether there is a Holy Spirit."
    And he said, "Into what then were you baptized?" And they said, "Into John's baptism."
    Paul said, "John baptized with the baptism of repentance, telling the people to believe in Him who was coming after him, that is, in Jesus."
    When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
    And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they {began} speaking with tongues and prophesying.
  • Acts 20:23 — except that the Holy Spirit solemnly testifies to me in every city, saying that bonds and afflictions await me.
  • Acts 28:25 — And when they did not agree with one another, they {began} leaving after Paul had spoken one {parting} word, "The Holy Spirit rightly spoke through Isaiah the prophet to your fathers,
  • Romans 1:11-12 — For I long to see you so that I may impart some spiritual gift to you, that you may be established;
    that is, that I may be encouraged together with you {while} among you, each of us by the other's faith, both yours and mine.

    For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit;
  • 1 Corinthians 12:9-12 — to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit,
    and to another the effecting of miracles, and to another prophecy, and to another the distinguishing of spirits, to another {various} kinds of tongues, and to another the interpretation of tongues.
    But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually just as He wills.
    For even as the body is one and {yet} has many members, and all the members of the body, though they are many, are one body, so also is Christ.
  • 1 Corinthians 12:13-14 — For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free, and we were all made to drink of one Spirit.
    For the body is not one member, but many.
  • 2 Corinthians 3:18 — But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.
  • 2 Corinthians 13:14 — The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with you all.
  • Galatians 5:22-25 — But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
    gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
    Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
    If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit.
  • Ephesians 1:13 — In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation--having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise,
  • Ephesians 2:18 — for through Him we both have our access in one Spirit to the Father.
  • Ephesians 2:22 — in whom you also are being built together into a dwelling of God in the Spirit.
  • Ephesians 4:4 — {There is} one body and one Spirit, just as also you were called in one hope of your calling;
  • Ephesians 4:30 — Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.
  • Philippians 2:1 — Therefore if there is any encouragement in Christ, if there is any consolation of love, if there is any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and compassion,

    how will we escape if we neglect so great a salvation? After it was at the first spoken through the Lord, it was confirmed to us by those who heard,
    God also testifying with them, both by signs and wonders and by various miracles and by gifts of the Holy Spirit according to His own will.
  • 1 Peter 1:11-12 — seeking to know what person or time the Spirit of Christ within them was indicating as He predicted the sufferings of Christ and the glories to follow.
    It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves, but you, in these things which now have been announced to you through those who preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven--things into which angels long to look.
  • 2 Peter 1:20-21 — But know this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture is {a matter} of one's own interpretation,
    for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.
