  • Genesis 30:1-2 — Now when Rachel saw that she bore Jacob no children, she became jealous of her sister; and she said to Jacob, "Give me children, or else I die."
    Then Jacob's anger burned against Rachel, and he said, "Am I in the place of God, who has withheld from you the fruit of the womb?"
  • Genesis 37:3-7 — Now Israel loved Joseph more than all his sons, because he was the son of his old age; and he made him a (Or {full-length robe}) varicolored tunic.
    His brothers saw that their father loved him more than all his brothers; and {so} they hated him and could not speak to him (Lit {in peace}) on friendly terms.
    Then Joseph had a dream, and when he told it to his brothers, they hated him even more.
    He said to them, "Please listen to this dream which I have had;
    for behold, we were binding sheaves in the field, and lo, my sheaf rose up and also stood erect; and behold, your sheaves gathered around and bowed down to my sheaf."
  • Genesis 37:8-11 — Then his brothers said to him, "Are you actually going to reign over us? Or are you really going to rule over us?" So they hated him even more for his dreams and for his words.
    Now he had still another dream, and related it to his brothers, and said, "Lo, I have had still another dream; and behold, the sun and the moon and eleven stars were bowing down to me."
    He related {it} to his father and to his brothers; and his father rebuked him and said to him, "What is this dream that you have had? Shall I and your mother and your brothers actually come to bow ourselves down before you to the ground?"
    His brothers were jealous of him, but his father kept the saying {in mind.}

    When the Gentiles heard this, they {began} rejoicing and glorifying the word of the Lord; and as many as had been appointed to eternal life believed.
  • Romans 1:28-29 — And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper,
    being filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, evil; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malice; {they are} gossips,

  • Titus 3:3 — For we also once were foolish ourselves, disobedient, deceived, enslaved to various lusts and pleasures, spending our life in malice and envy, hateful, hating one another.
  • James 3:14-16 — But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your heart, do not be arrogant and {so} lie against the truth.
    This wisdom is not that which comes down from above, but is earthly, natural, demonic.
    For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there is disorder and every evil thing.
  • James 4:1-3 — What is the source of quarrels and conflicts among you? Is not the source your pleasures that wage war in your members?
    You lust and do not have; {so} you commit murder. You are envious and cannot obtain; {so} you fight and quarrel. You do not have because you do not ask.
    You ask and do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend {it} on your pleasures.
  • 1 Peter 2:1-2 — Therefore, putting aside all malice and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander,
    like newborn babies, long for the pure milk of the word, so that by it you may grow in respect to salvation,
