RECONCILIATION
(See PEACE)

Reconciliation involves a changed relationship from enmity to harmony between two parties. In Scripture, reconciliation may indicate (1) the changed relationship between the sinful, alienated world and God, since salvation is divinely provided for mankind through Christ's redemptive work (2 Corinthians 5:19; Colossians 1:20; cf. John 3:16); (2) the believer's actual changed relationship from enmity to peace with God (Romans 5:10; 2 Corinthians 5:18; Colossians 1:20-22); and (3) a change in relationship between human parties from hostility to harmony (e.g., Matthew 5:24).
