JUSTICE
Biblical justice proceeds from just or right character and involves fairness of judgment, particularly in the treatment of people (cf. Deuteronomy 32:4). God exercises justice with absolute equity in the punishment of sin and reward of righteousness. Justice is also closely associated with righteousness in both the OT and the NT (cf. Psalms 106:3; Romans 3:21-26) (see RIGHTEOUSNESS). God Himself is perfectly and inviolably righteous and is therefore the ultimate author and standard of justice (Genesis 18:25; Deuteronomy 10:18; 32:4). Accordingly, He requires people to "do justice" (Micah 6:8).
