WISDOM (DIVINE)
(See KNOWLEDGE)
The term wisdom refers to competency in knowledge and skill to succeed in life. Wisdom is fundamentally practical rather than theoretical in nature. God alone possess wisdom in the absolute sense (cf. Job. 28; Romans 16:27), and displays it especially in His works of creation (Proverbs 3:19; 8:22ff) and redemption in Christ (1 Corinthians 1:30; Colossians 2:2-3). But He also gives it to those who seek it (Proverbs 2:6) in humble reverence toward Him (Proverbs 9:10). Divine wisdom in its application to people refers to the abilities given by God in every area of life (e.g., craftsmanship, Exodus 35:11; knowledge and insight for right decisions, 1 Kings 5:12; 1 Corinthians 6:5).
