ASCENSION
In biblical usage the ascension refers to the departure of the resurrected Christ from earth to heaven where He has resumed His position at the right hand of the Father (Mark 16:19; John 20:17; Acts 1:2, 9-11, 22; Ephesians 1:20). Christ's ascension was personal, visible, and bodily and accompanied by a cloud and angels (Acts 1:9-11). He will return from heaven to earth in this same manner (Acts 1:11; cf. 3:20-21).
