ACCOUNTABILITY
(See also JUDGMENT; RESPONSIBILITY; STEWARDSHIP)

The biblical concept of accountability means that people are answerable to certain human authorities and ultimately to God for their conduct (Romans 13:1-2; 14:12). Generally, proper conduct is rewarded while unacceptable conduct is punished (Psalms 1:6; John 5:28-29; Romans 2:5-8; Galatians 6:7-8). God's infinite being and perfect character make Him accountable to no one (cf. Job 33:13).
