Sharing Your Faith

Expected time: 3 sessions of 10 minutes (except for memorization). Check each item when completed.

  1. Pray about this lesson. (Allow God to do beyond your capabilities in this lesson.)
  2.

  3. Read Matthew 9:11-13 and Luke 19:5-10. Who did Jesus focus His ministry on? Who usually hears the gospel in churches these days? What should the church be doing?
  4.

  5. Memorize Romans 1:16. Notes on memorization:
  6.

    • It is difficult to succeed in any fundamental area of living without memorizing a verse on it.
    • Always memorize in one translation.
    • Always memorize word-for-word.
    • When saying, always say the verse reference, then the verse itself, then the reference again.
    • Memorize during "brainless" activities, like driving, standing in line, during commercials, ...
    • Regularly review verses previously memorized.

  7. Read as many of the following as time permits (read at least 8), answering the questions below.
  8.  Matthew 7:19-21Matthew 9:11-13Matthew 15:7-8Matthew 28:18-20
     Mark 16:15Luke 2:10-11Luke 15:4-7Luke 19:5-10
     Acts 1:8Romans 1:16Romans 2:4Romans 10:13-17
     1 Corin. 9:16-222 Corin. 2:14-172 Corin. 4:3-5Hebrews 7:25
     2 Peter 3:9Revelation 3:20

  9. Regarding sharing our faith, what do you think God wants each Christian to do?
  10.

  11. Contrast "cold turkey" evangelism (sharing with someone you don't know) to "Living Proof" evangelism (befriending someone, bringing them through each step until they become a disciple). What's good and bad about both?
  12.

  13. Regarding sharing our faith, practically speaking, what should each Christian be doing? Answer this so any Christian can be doing it. Can you do this?
  14.

  15. From the above, determine something of which you need to change. One way to encourage success in this area is to say the memorized verse when struggling with what to do. What one other thing can you be doing to improve in this area?
  16.
