What Does the Bible Say?

Why should I get baptized?

Because baptism is a commandment of God for every believer. It is the first act of obedience a believer is asked to do. To choose not to be baptized is to choose to disobey God.

Because baptism is an act that God chose to demonstrate the death, burial and resurrection of Christ (salvation) and our uniting ourselves to that act which saved us.

Water Baptism is an act of obedience for the believer. It should be preceded by belief and repentance. Baptism accompanied every conversion in the New Testament, and was always performed at the same time as the decision to believe.

having been buried with Him in baptism, in which you were also raised up with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead.
  • I Peter 3:21 — Corresponding to that, baptism now saves you--not the removal of dirt from the flesh, but an appeal to God for a good conscience--through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,
