Where was Jesus born?

He was born a Jew in Bethlehem, a town near Jerusalem, famous in Jewish history as the city of King David before the death of Herod the Great in 4 BC.

Matthew 2:1 — Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, (A caste of wise men specializing in astronomy, astrology, and natural science) magi from the east arrived in Jerusalem, saying,
