What Does the Bible Say?

Where is a good place to start reading the Bible?

The best place to start for anyone who's new to Scripture would be John. John is the last of the four Gospels, and gives a beautiful account of the person of Jesus Christ, as well as extensive information on His ministry. From there, branch out and read the other three Gospels. Each Gospel (Matthew, Mark, Luke, John) talks about the life of Jesus, but from different perspectives. Continue moving into the New Testament from there, taking it one book at a time.

You may also want to pull in some of Old Testament along with your New Testament readings. Try to read from Psalms and Proverbs, averaging about one chapter a day from each.

Keep in mind that reading the Bible cover to cover is not necessary. It's not a chapter book - it is a collection of books and letters. Just start with the Gospels and then progress to different books until eventually you end up reading the whole thing. Later, after you have spent time in it, it would be worthwhile to read through it from cover to cover
